Since 2003 LOOP FAIR creates a framework for specialists and market professionals, the first devoted to artists’ films and videos. The galleries and their artists’ works are chosen through a selection process carried out by an independent committee formed by Isabelle & Jean Conrad Lemaître (president), Haro Cumbusyan, Renée Drake and Josée & Marc Gensollen. All the members of our committee are examples of this passion and commitment to new forms of seeing and thinking, specifically those of contemporary artists, which are indispensable to rethink ourselves as individuals and as a society.
The Fair is born from a commercial intention and, given the current socio-economic structure, is converted into one of the essential platforms for the production and exhibition of the critical thought generated by artists, who most of the times find support in and work with their gallerists and collectors. With this in mind, LOOP FAIR fulfils its passionate commitment to serve as a serious and rigorous context.
LOOP Barcelona is pleased to announce the 2018 Fair Jury committee formed by Ferran Barenblit (Director, Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona, MACBA), Marcella Lista (Curator and Comissioner, Centre Pompidou, Paris) Dirk Snauwaert (Director, WIELS, Brussels), and Benjamin Weil (Artistic Director, Centro Botín, Santander)
The quality of LOOP Fair is based on the careful selection and detailed advisory task undertaken by its committee, made up of collectors with a particular interest in artists’ video and film, as well as a shared involvement in the sector.
