LOOP has recently launched a residency program aimed at young curators, with the aim of providing them opportunities for professional development and connecting them with its network of collaborators for a deeper experience in the field of moving image.
Matadero’s Centre for Artists in Residence and LOOP, through an agreement with Fabra i Coats: Fábrica de Creación y Centre d’Arts Santa Mònica, promoted a call for entries with these specific objectives: to provide a curator from any country of origin with a work space, funding, institutional support and international visibility. Lisa Long was awarded the LOOP Matadero Curatorial Residency, offering the curator the opportunity to interact with artists, institutions and art professionals from the contemporary scene in Barcelona and Madrid.
In 2023, the jury has decided to award the residency to curator Panos Fourtoulakis whose practice focuses on media cultures; his ability to create subjectivities and the relationship of life and embodied presence with mediation, especially as it relates to moving image practices.
This residency had a first stay, of May 2023 in Barcelona, accompanied and managed by Loop Barcelona in collaboration with Fabra i Coats and Centre d’Arts Santa Mònica; and a second stay, of June in Madrid, managed by CRA.
