Established in 2016 by Ingibjörg Jónsdóttir, BERG Contemporary has a focus on video and multimedia installations. As one of three commercial galleries in Reykjavik, it aims to provide a diversified forum for contemporary art by seeking the resonant tone of the present in innovative and experimental exhibitions, both with local and international artists. BERG Contemporary is the first gallery to represent Steina and Woody Vasulka, video art pioneers who greatly influenced younger generations of artists. The gallery is located in an old glass factory in the centre of Reykjavík, which has been renovated as a 180 sq. meter exhibiting space.
