Guanyar-se les garrofes (2016), the new work by the Forever Blowing Bubbles group (Bernat Daviu and Joana
Roda), recreates an avant-garde imagery that revolves around carob pods, a fruit that has mostly been used as
fodder for animals throughout the centuries, although it has also been used to feed people in times of need.
The Catalan expression “guanyar-se les garrofes” (to earn one’s carobs) means to scrape a living. In this sense, the
artists featured in this film have drawn inspiration from carobs and the notion of hardship they evoke in order to
develop a revolutionary artistic movement.
