1993, Abymes, Guadeloupe
Born and raised in the Caribbean island of Guadeloupe and France, Thomias Radin earned his BFA and MFA from the University of Rennes 2, France, in 2015 and 2018, respectively. His practice, regardless of medium, is deeply rooted in embodied knowledge shaped by his background in dance and his upbringing between the Caribbean and France. In Radin’s work—whether in painting, sculpture, performance, or film—the Black subjects serve as vessels of memory and movement. This movement conveys stories of profound spirituality, rooted in ancient wisdom yet continually evolving and alive. Radin’s emphasis on movement mirrors his focus on the fluidity of meaning and the presence of the intangible throughout his artistic practice. His major solo exhibitions until today are Rhizome: Time of Revelation, Kunstverein Göttingen (2024), POLYCHROME – The Myth of Karukera & Cibuqueira, Galerie Wedding, Berlin (2023), and The Myth of Inner Landscapes, SAVVY Contemporary, Berlin (2019). He currently lives and works in Berlin.
