With the aim of promoting the creation of new video artworks and supporting the careers of artists specialized in this medium, Loop carries out a program of awards and grants in collaboration with key industry agents, both locally and internationally. The newly produced works resulting from these calls are often exhibited publicly during the Loop Festival.
The Video Creation Award provides for the co-production of a project between the Territorial Centers of the Public System of Visual Arts Equipment of Catalonia, Santa Mònica, the Department of Culture of the Generalitat of Catalonia, and Loop Barcelona. This award aims to promote the co-production of a work that incorporates video as the main element in the overall proposal.
The Han Nefkens Foundation x Loop Barcelona grant aims to support the work of an Asian artist whose research involves video. The artist receives a grant from the Han Nefkens Foundation to support the production of a new, limited-edition artwork, that will then be presented at Art Hub Copenhagen; ILHAM Gallery, Kuala Lumpur; Inside-Out Art Museum, Beijing; MAXXI, Rome; MoCA Taipei; MOT, Tokyo and Museu Picasso Barcelona.
Loop Barcelona created a special Call for the Creative Europe A-Place project (2019-2023), to finance an audiovisual production focusing on the subject of placemaking. The videos were exhibited each year during the festival.
