Beans, Rinsed Twice follows the tales, stories, memories, and recipes contained in a bean. How many stories can a recipe tell? And whose stories are they?
Through the personal and historical symbolism of a bean—and by extension, the process of cultivating, harvesting, and cooking this seed—the film moves through the memories of the collaborators (in all their factual and invented dimensions), expanding on the idea that we carry multiple places within ourselves, the value of tacit knowledge, and the possibilities of a reciprocal language of care.
