Artist

Richard Mosse examines charged photographic technologies to create challenging documentary art about some of the world’s most pressing historic events as they unfold. He inflects his firsthand testimonial materials with political and ethical questions surrounding perception, representation, aesthetics, and mapping. In recent years, Mosse has focused on the multifaceted ecological, political and societal issues connected to the deforestation of the Amazonian region in Brazil. His immersive six-channel 16mm infrared film installation The Enclave was exhibited at the National Pavilion of Ireland during the 55th Venice Art Biennale. He has had solo exhibitions in venues such as The Barbican Center, London; Louisiana Museum of Modern Ar; FOAM, Amsterdam; National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne; Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin; Akademie der Kunste, Berlin; Lille3000, Lille; Kunsthaus Graz; and MCA Chicago.
