Rafael Ortega

He begun working in cinema as a cinematographer, participating in more than 300 projects either feature films or documentaries. In 1993 he started working within the visual arts, and since then he has collaborated, developed, photographed and co-authorised, more than 90 works with artists of his generation. Francis Alÿs, João Penalva, Amalia Pica, Pablo Vargas Lugo, Abraham Cruzvillegas, Damian Ortega, Melanie Smith and Silvia Gruner amongst others.

His collaborative and co-authorised works have been exhibited at MoMA NY, Tate Modern, Tate Britain, Museo Tamayo, MUAC, MALBA, AGO, Canadá, Bienal de Porto Alegre (2007, 2011)(, Hamburger Bahnhoff (2018), Momenta Bienal Montreal (2019), Venice Biennale (49 in 2001, 54 in 2011, 56 in 2015, 58 in 2019, 59 in 2022). He lives and works in London and México.
