Profile
Artist

A French-Algerian artist and filmmaker, Katia Kameli bases her practice on research. Historical and cultural events inspire the diverse forms of her visual and poetic imagination. She describes herself as a ‘translator,’ but her translation is not merely a transition between two cultures or an act of transmission. It is an extension of meanings and forms, a rewriting of stories. Her work sheds light on a global history, characterized by porous boundaries and reciprocal influences, opening a reflexive path that generates a critical perspective on the world. Kameli graduated from the École Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Bourges and completed the Collège-Invisible post-diploma at the École Supérieure d’Arts in Marseille. Her work has gained visibility and recognition on the international art and film scenes and has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions, cinemas, and film festivals.
