Joana Hurtado Matheu is a curator and writer based in Barcelona, specialized in art and cinema. Currently, she is the Director of Fabra i Coats – Contemporary Art Center and Creation Factory of Barcelona set up by Barcelona City Council. From 2010 to 2019 she was in charge of the exhibition programme of Can Felipa. She has written extensively for the supplement “Cultura/s” in La Vanguardia, and has contributed to magazines like Cahiers du Cinéma – España, Time Out Barcelona and Parachute. She has designed the cycle of exhibitions Cathedrals in La Capella (Capella de Sant Roc, Valls), as well as the exhibition In raise of misunderstanding (ODA), The nostalgic dissidence (La Capella), Cinema effect (Can Felipa), the video cycle Heresies (LOOP) and Pop Up – To see is to add (CaixaForum), the cinema meetings Cinergies (CCCB) and the Dialogue organised within the SCAN Photographic Manifestation in Tarragona. She holds an MA in Art Critic (UdG) and a PhD in Cinematographic and Audiovisual Studies (París III – Sorbonne Nouvelle).
