Enric Farrés Duran (Barcelona, 1983) lives and works in Barcelona. He holds a university degree in Art and Design (Escola Massana, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona), a degree in Philosophy (University of Barcelona), a Master’s in Artistic Production and Research (University of Barcelona), and a PhD in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona.
As an artist, he has been represented by the Nogueras Blanchard gallery (2016-2024) and is currently represented by the Bombon Projects gallery (2017-…). He combines the production of personal work with university research, the development of projects for independent publishers, and is currently a member of the jury and curatorial board of the La Capella art center. His work has been shown collectively at the MNAC – Una col·lecció heterodoxa: El llegat T. F., at the MACBA – París no se acaba nunca # Districte cinquè, at the Antoni Tàpies Foundation – Tres coses rares. Història d’una desaparició, and individually at the La Panera Art Center in Lleida – Una exposició de mirar and the Girona Contemporary Art Center Bòlit – Res és meu. In 2015, he received the BCN Producció grant to develop the project El visitant ideal d’una col·lecció sentimental, in collaboration with the Frederic Marès Museum and the La Caixa Foundation. He also received the Generación 2016 award granted by the Montemadrid Foundation. In 2016, he premiered the film Un viatge frustrat thanks to the Cal Cego Contemporary Art Collection, as well as Una exposició de dibuixos at the etHALL gallery (Barcelona), where he received the GAC-DKV award. In 2017, he held a solo exhibition at the Uma Certa Falta de Coerência space (Porto), an intervention at the LACA contemporary art archive (Los Angeles), and gave a lecture on collecting and artistic practice at the Museum of Modern Art (MAM) in São Paulo. In 2022, he developed an exhibition focused on the historical archive of the MACBA in celebration of its 25th anniversary. Recently, he held a solo exhibition at Bombon Projects during the Barcelona Gallery Weekend 2023.
