Adela Babanova, born 1980, is a Czech artist based in Prague, who works with moving image, film and video-installation. Her movies are based on real events from the recent Czechoslovak history that were or still are very controversial or mysterious. She works with archival footage, photographs and documents that she manipulates for a completely new story. Working in long-term collaborations with screenwriters, cameramen, editors and artists, Babanová creates videos that examine the possibilities of image manipulation in the television, radio and gallery system.
Adela Babanova is represented by Zahorian & Van Espen Gallery and Jiri Svestka Gallery. Her videos are part of the FRAC Basse-Normandie collection and Prague City Gallery collection.
