Video loop on custom 3D printed canvas and electronics
This video is part of Quintus Glerum’s new series of works called ‘Kiki’s Wonderful Little Worlds’. In this series Glerum questions his own desire for escapism through the perspective of a fictional character. Each video portrays the artist’s background in animation to leave his reality, but questions the relationship between the use of escapism and his own sense of self. This is established through different installations that portray different simulations, but also highlight the artificial nature of the screens. In the video ‘Hit the Bottom And Escape’ this is portrayed through a simulated flock of fish, stuck within the borders of the artist’s bedroom. Just like the limitations of a simulation, the motion of the fish is limited to the algorithm that created it.
