The video “Golzheim” conveys the socially controversial atmosphere of one neighborhood in the north of Düsseldorf. The different architectural structures – the monumental Nordpark (North Park) established by National Socialists, the „white settlement“ Golzheimer-Siedlung with its high-priced private houses for the upper classes, the Jewish elderly home and the temporary refugee camp made of containers – are all located side by side on a single axis along the Rhine in the north of Düsseldorf. The contrasts live side by side. The connecting link is Nordpark, where all the inhabitants of this neighborhood, who live next door yet in different worlds, meet one another. “Golzheim” seeks to reflect on the socio-political and architectural changes in this part of the city and deals with the question, under which circumstances the urban cityscape is created, changes and is perceived.
