Lúa Coderch (Iquitos, 1982) lives and works in Barcelona, where she obtained a Master in Production and Art Research and a PhD in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona. In 2012 she became artist-in-residence at Smart Project Space (Amsterdam) through the HANGAR AECID International Exchange Program. She has also taught at different universities in Barcelona. In recent years she has received several scholarships such as the PAIR scholarship from the Suñol Foundation, and has been awarded with the DKV Award for the Best Spanish Artist participating in Swab Barcelona (2016), the Lluís Coromines Foundation Award (2016), the BBVA Foundation Grant for Video Art (2015), and the Miquel Casablancas Award (2015). She has had solo shows at museums and institutions such as BF15, Lyon; Fundació Suñol, Barcelona; Espai 13-Fundació Joan Miró, Barcelona; Capella de Sant Roc, Valls; EspaiDos, Terrassa; or La Capella-Espai Cub, Barcelona. In 2018 she will present Shelter, a video-project, created thanks to the BBVA Foundation grant. Her work has also been exhibited at Centre d’Art Fabra i Coats, Barcelona; Centre d’Art Santa Mònica, Barcelona; MACBA, Barcelona; Encuentro de Cultura Contemporánea de Guadalajara, Guadalajara; The Green Parrot, Barcelona; or La Capella, Barcelona.
Her works can be found in collections such as the MUSAC Contemporary Art Museum of Castilla y León, DKV Seguros Contemporary Art Foundation, Lluís Coromina Foundation, the Cal Cego Contemporary Art Collection, the Fernando Meana Larrucea Collection, the Miquel Casablancas Collection, or the Guasch-Coranty Collection, among others.
