José Pica

José Pica has a degree in Modern and Contemporary History and Teaching, and he specialized in film education for schools. After working as a primary and secondary school teacher for more than 20 years, he decided to create the platform and programme CINEMA per a ESTUDIANTS, a private initiative serving the educational system since 1996. Throughout these years, his work has been focused on two main activities. The first one is organizing an annual cycle of film screenings aimed at different levels and areas of compulsory education and post-compulsory. The films are screened in cinemas across different areas and populations in order to take advantage of the attraction that the big screen offers as an educational tool and to bring the cinematographic language into classroom. The second activity he focuses on is conducting film forums inside classroom sessions and through screenings, analysis and film reviews, he makes students learn and reflects on various topics. His platform www.cinemaperestudiants.cat is specialized in educational resources based on cinema and receives more than 3000 views a day.
