Anna Manubens is an independent curator, writer, and producer with a preference for hybrid roles at the intersection between research, public programming, close project development, and exhibition-making. Before moving back to Barcelona in 2017, she was Head of Public Programmes at the CAPC Musée d’art contemporain in Bordeaux. She had previously combined her independent activity as a curator and programmer with teaching at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona) and part-time curator position at the Belgian artist-run organisation, Auguste Orts, dedicated to the production of, and thinking around artists’ films. With Auguste Orts, she was the founding project manager of On & For Production a European collaboration project dedicated to facilitating the development and production of artists’moving image through the conception of new working frameworks and peer-to-peer exchange formats. Her recent curatorial projects include: ALIENTO (Nogueras Blanchard, Barcelona – exhibition cycle until 2021); Wendelien van Oldenborgh. Tono lengua boca (Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo, Madrid, on until January 2020; Fabra i Coats-Centre d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona, October 2020); entre, hacia, hasta, para, por, según, sin (Espai d’Art Contemporani, Castelló2019); Les Escenes. 25 years later (La Capella, Barcelona, 2019); Hacer cuerpo con la máquina: Joachim Koester, (Blue Project Foundation, Barcelona, 2016); Visceral Blue (La Capella; Barcelona, 2016) and Moving Image Contours (curated with Soledad Gutiérrez at Tabakalera, San Sebastián, 2015), among others. She was the artistic director of LOOP for the editions of 2011 and 2012 and with Hamaca she developed Apología / Antología, an online publishing project that analyses and gives access to 60 years of video creation in the Spanish state. She has written for several catalogs and magazines and is currently preparing the presentation of the book Hangar: Paradigmas, symptoms, prototypes and projections, of which she is the editor together with Julia Montilla, on the occasion of Hangar’s 20th anniversary.
