Helen Dowling (1982, Windsor, GB) studied at Goldsmiths and Slade School of Fine Arts in London, after which she did residencies with Via Farini (IT), Fondazione Antonio Ratti (IT), and also the two-year residency program of the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam (NL). For this residency she received a research fellowship from the Henry Moore Institute and from Cees and Inge de Bruin- Heijn. Recent presentations from Helen Dowling include “Stranger on display,” at the GEM in The Hague, NL, 2019; “Whatever’s there”, tegenboschvanvreden, Amsterdam, NL, 2017; Cities at the Center for Contemporary Arts in Glasgow GBR, 2017, curator Kari Robertson; ‘Physical Fiction’ in the Garage in Rotterdam, NL, curator Yasmijn Jarram, 2016; ‘Chez vero possa confutare il falso’ at Palazzo Pubblico, Santa Maria della Scala, Accademia Fisiocritici, 2016, in Siena (IT), curator Luigi Fassi; “Dark Palms” in Studio Amaro, Naples, IT, 2016, and “Close-Up – A new generation of film and video artists in the Netherlands”, in EYE Film Museum, Amsterdam, NL, 2016.
