Galerie Loevenbruck

Open to the public since 2001 and located in Saint-Germain-des-Prés neighborhood, the Loevenbruck Gallery has changed locations and moved into a larger space of 130 m2 at 6, rue Jacques Callot, which is one block over from its previous address. The emblem, shortened to the signature title of LOEVENBRUCK, lights up the facade for 10 meters and beckons you inside. In this new space, the gallery continues to promote the artists it represents with 21 unprecedented works waiting to be discovered or rediscovered.

Over these past few years, we have been fortunate to present numerous artists who are considered today amongst the best representatives of the French or international art scenes. The exhibitions held in the gallery have often been audacious, bringing into play the limited space that was constantly in flux and which will remain ‘our first site,’ our origin, situated at the corner of rue de Seine and rue de l’Echaudé.
Since we wanted to conserve our Saint-Germain-des-Prés identity, we moved to number 6 of the rue Jacques Callot. This venue was formerly occupied by the Darthea Speyer Gallery (and beforehand, it was the site of the historic surrealist gallery!) where, for more than 40 years, artworks have been shown by several artists paramount to contemporary art history, including Nancy Spero, Leon Golub, Ed Paschke, Peter Saul and even Georges Segal…
Thanks to the imaginative renovation of the venue accomplished by the architect Anne-Cécile Comar, an associate at the Atelier Du Pont (Member of PLAN 01), the gallery is a display of bright and functional spaces: a large space for modular exhibitions and a special exhibition space in the window, at once independent and constantly changing, which is ideal for rare and unique pieces that may enter into dialogue with our neighboring gallery “Pièce Unique.” Finally, a private office, a place for conversation, the presentation of artworks upon request, and for new discoveries separate from the gallery’s official program.
The inauguration of the new space will be held Saturday, September 11th, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. For three weeks, the gallery will present an exhibition of works by its different artists, constantly altered to create new combinations. The program will then consist of a series of exhibitions changing every 4 to 6 weeks.
The first solo exhibition will feature Jean Dupuy. For several years, some art historians and curators have encouraged the artist to show his canvases from the 1960s. Following in the footsteps of MAMAC in Nice, la Villa Tamaris, the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris has now offered him their walls. This exhibition will be the first ever gallery presentation of this artwork.
