Péter Forgács (Budapest, 1950) is a well-established Hungarian media artist with excellent international reputation having works in the collections of the MoMa, New York; the Pompidou, Paris; or The Getty Museum, Los Angeles; among many others. Since 1978 he has created several films and media installations which have been exhibited for instance in MCNY, NY; The Getty, LA; The EYE, Amsterdam; Bozar, Brussels; and The Louvre, Paris. Forgács received, among many major awards, the prestigious Erasmus Prize of the Praemium Erasmianum Foundation in 2007 in Amsterdam. In 2009 he represented Hungary at the Venice Biennale, and his works entitled The Maeistrom and Hunky Blues were on view in The Louvre. His film entitled El Perro Negro is based on the Spanish Civil War and was awarded with The Maysies Brothers Documentary Grand Prize at Denver International Film Festival and the Feature Length Documentary Film Award at Tribeca International Film Festival, New York in 2005.
